An Ecological Adventure in Puebla
I woke up at 4 in the morning, why did I want to be ready early because unlike the rest, I would have to make more trips, because it would take me 2 to 3 hours to get to the Atlacomulco bus station, so I got ready for breakfast, there I was eating cereal more alert and awake than the birds themselves, when I finished I went to fix myself and fix the room and left my house.
Take the road to Atlacomulco at about 4:30, the truth is there is not much to comment because I slept most of the way, I arrived at 7:30 am and wait patiently at the exit of the Atlacomulco-Puebla bus that left at 8am and we arrived in Puebla at 11 am, the trip was good, I no longer felt tired and now I was awake, when I got off the bus I thought there was a good, somewhat cold weather, at least that was my impression.
Already in Puebla the organizers received us and they did not begin to explain the reason for the name of the program "School Gardens in Mexico", and they also explained the purpose of it, which was that in the development of the program, promote human and social skills and promote the values of us with the environment and to help boys and girls of the community with gardens and food production.
After the small talk, they took us to where we were going to stay, and most importantly, they fed us, it is something that is appreciated because after such a trip, a good meal always helps.
They explained the activities to us and of course some sounded heavy and others seemed to call me to do them, so well what I did was:
- Make gardens near the school.
- Give talks to children about the environment.
- Participation in food preparation.
- Help to rehabilitate common areas.
- Reforestation and pruning activities with my colleagues.
Those activities were interesting and productive and ... Well a little tired so well we had a well deserved rest, it was good, although with strange dreams.
The other days I did activities that I really liked.
Day 3: Participation in planning activities. That's what I say, for a very good intention, you must have a plan, be it a good one or a bad one, but you must have a plan and it is fun to do one, although in the end many things do not turn out as you thought.
Day 4: Management related to the project. Once I had the plan approved of everything, (Although in the end everything was different, on paper it should be very easy, but in practice it was complicated), I was managing that we had what was necessary to apply the plan.
Day 5: Participate in camping trips and excursions. Yup, those were days of planning this, since I could see the complications of my colleagues, in the end there were some things that were not in the plan, but you cannot expect that all of them will work out perfectly, a good plan is not the one that is carried out As planned, a good plan is one that adapts and is functional, it was all very nice, except for the mosquitoes ... It seems that I am their favorite food, because only me it bit me. After the epic adventure, with plans and resource management, some songs and the fact that my whole body itched, it was time to say goodbye, grateful to
the community and the coordinators for the beautiful experience (even with its failures) . We left Zacatelco, heading for Atlacomulco, there I said goodbye to my companions and started my own return home, where my father was waiting for me in the land of Pozole, Guerrero.
